FAQs

What is the difference between architecture photography and real estate photography?

Architecture photography generally requires more thoughtful planning, time and different techniques than real estate photography. The number of photos delivered is often a lower quantity for architectural shoots than real estate shoots. That’s not to say that time, planning and thought isn’t put into real estate shoot, but due to the higher quantity of photos required and quicker turnaround, less time and planning can be put in to each photo and the shoot as a whole.

Architecture photography is best for finished projects, architects, interior designers, construction firms, editorial use, etc.

Real estate photography is generally better for real estate agents, property managers, home and apartment listings, etc.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with architecture firms, construction firms, interior designers, landscape designers, publications, engineers, builders, property owners, property managers and developers.

What is your process for an architectural photography shoot?

The process starts with a discovery call. During the call, we will discuss the project as a whole and go through the scope and logistics as well. This can include project details, key points of interest to be captured, number of photos delivered, any additional parties that may want to license photos, and project budget.

After this, we will provide a quote for the project, and if we move forward, we will  send over a contract and invoice for a deposit. We do require a 50% deposit to book the project and secure a date.

When possible, we will book a scout date prior to the shoot to do a walk through of the project and discuss any additional logistics details or other needs for the shoot. This could include staging, lighting, where to start the photo shoot, etc. When a scout date is not possible, photos from the client’s phone or even renders can be sufficient.

On the shoot date, we will do a final walk through of the project and go over any last minute details. After that, it’s time to shoot!

After the shoot, photos will be delivered within seven (7) days of the shoot date. Revision may be requested by the commissioning client. The photos will be provided in a gallery that the commissioning client and additional parties can license the photos from.

How many photos do you take per project?

Every project is different, with some parties wanting less photos and some wanting more. Often we will take multiple angles of the same view (i.e one straight-on angle, one side or corner angle, and one close-up shot). Details like this are usually discussed on-site, and this gives the client and other parties options on which photos to license.

How much do you charge?

Our pricing is based on a Creative Fee + Per Photo License model. The quote provided will outline all costs associated with the project, including the Creative
Fee, Licensing, Travel, and any additional costs. The Creative Fee covers my time and licensing covers the usage of the images. Cost-sharing is available as well (see below).

Do you offer multi-party or cost-sharing contracts?

Yes! Cost-sharing is a great way to reduce the overall cost of the shoot and split the cost among additional parties. Each party must agree to the cost-sharing model before the the shoot. Each party will receive all of the photos from the shoot. The commissioning client will be the only party providing direction on the shoot day. They will also be the only party providing feedback, and will be billed for the full cost of the project.

Who owns the copyright to the images?

NH Creative retains the copyright to all photos or video produced during the shoot. We do not deliver RAW or unedited photo or video files.

Do you travel?

Yes! We are available to drive or fly to any shoot across the United States or around the world. Travel costs can be reduced by coordinating multiple project shoots around one trip.

Do you offer video or only photography?

Yes! In addition to architecture photography, we offer video production services as well. Whether you are looking for a cinematic video to showcase your work in all its beauty or create a video talking about the project in more detail, we can be your one-stop-shop for all of your architecture media needs.

Do you offer aerial photography or video?

Yes! We are FAA-licensed and fully insured to fly drones. We used drones to capture the exteriors of builds and to get close up to areas of a project that are higher in the air. In larger open spaces, we can also fly the drone indoors. Proof of insurance and licensure can be provided at the client’s request.

What is your typical turnaround time?

Photography and video for each project will be delivered within seven (7) days of the end of the shoot. If additional time is needed or unexpected delays occur, they will be communicated to the client in a timely manner.
